 1-hour combined **Yoga and Garba** workshop that blends the calming nature of yoga with the energetic, rhythmic movements of Garba and Dandiya

Kick off the festive spirit with a unique and refreshing one-hour Yoga and Garba/Dandiya workshop!

This session seamlessly blends the calming and centering nature of yoga with the vibrant, rhythmic energy of Garba and Dandiya. Begin by grounding yourself with yoga, focusing on breath control, flexibility, and mindfulness to center your mind and body. Then, flow into the energetic, lively movements of Garba and Dandiya, where traditional dance steps and rhythmic beats come together for a joyful celebration of culture and movement. Perfect for both beginners and seasoned dancers, this workshop promises to invigorate your spirit and prepare you for a night of fun and upcoming Basel Garba /Dandya events !

### 1. **Yoga Warm-Up (15 minutes)**  

Begin with a yoga session focused on flexibility, grounding, and energizing the body for dancing.  

- **Breathing Exercises (Pranayama)**: Simple breathing techniques to calm the mind and center focus.

- **Stretching**: Incorporate poses like Cat-Cow, Downward Dog, and Sun Salutations to stretch the entire body.

- **Balance Poses**: Introduce poses like Tree Pose and Warrior to improve balance and focus, which will help with dance coordination.

### 2. **Introduction to Garba/Dandiya Movements (15 minutes)**

- **Basic Garba Steps**: Teach fundamental steps like the Two-Clap Garba or Circle Garba.

- **Dandiya Basics**: Teach basic stick (dandiya) movements and rhythms.

- **Posture & Footwork**: Emphasize footwork and posture to help participants feel confident and rhythmic.

### 3. **Garba-Dandiya Dance Routine (20 minutes)**

- **Short Choreographed Routine**: Create a simple routine that combines Garba and Dandiya moves. Ensure it's easy to follow for beginners and flows naturally.

- **Add Yoga-Inspired Movements**: Incorporate a few yoga poses within the dance routine to maintain the workshop’s theme of balance and flow.

### 4. **Cool Down with Yoga (5 minutes)**

- **Gentle Yoga Poses**: Use poses like Child’s Pose, Seated Forward Bend, or Butterfly Pose to help participants cool down and relax their muscles after the dance.

- **Guided Meditation**: End with a brief guided meditation or Shavasana (Corpse Pose) for relaxation, focusing on breath and mindfulness.

### 5. **Q&A and Group Reflection (5 minutes)**

Encourage participants to ask questions, share their experience, or provide feedback on how they felt after mixing yoga and dance.
